The 2018 MBA Art Show is an annual, juried event featuring up to 60 professional artists from throughout the region exhibiting and offering their work for purchase at the show. Proceeds from the Art Show put on by the MBA Mother’s Club benefit the school’s Fine Arts Department. Featured artist, Blek Le Rat, will arrive at MBA several days prior to the Art Show to create a series of up to six original murals on campus, assisted by students studying Fine Arts. Based in Paris, Blek Le Rat is widely recognized as a pioneer in the graffiti-art and guerrilla art movements, inspiring multiple artists in the genre, including the anonymous, England-based Banksy. His works are primarily life-sized murals of individuals which he designs to be “little surprises to make people happy.” Blek Le Rat often incorporates themes of music and dance in his work. The MBA Fine Arts Department is fashioning its curriculum to complement Blek Le Rat’s work and coordinate with his time on campus. The Art Show will be open to the public on Saturday, November 10 from 12 to 4 p.m. Additionally, individuals and groups are invited to view the show by appointment through November 18. Admission is free and works will be available for purchase.
